Lowering Springs: Fitment by Car

Lowering springs for the Crown Victoria are a niche fit: no major brand lists a Pro-Kit for it, but spring shops like Eaton Springs sell stock, 1-inch, or 1.5-inch drop replacements, and custom coil shops will wind a pair to spec. Confirm your Panther-platform year (1998-2011) and whether the car is a Police Interceptor first.

This hub covers lowering-spring fitment for every platform we track, from the Crown Vic to the BMW 3-Series, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Lexus IS, GR Supra, Acura Integra, Scion xB, and classic G-body and S10 trucks. Each row below lists the drop figure, part number, and source we verified - from the manufacturer where one exists, from a retailer's fitment listing otherwise.

Match the generation code, not the trim name

Model names span chassis changes that move spring mounts entirely. "3-Series" covers the E36, E46, and E90/E92 - three different lowering springs (see our BMW lowering springs page for one chassis at a time). The Jeep Grand Cherokee's WK and WK2 generations use different control arms, and even within WK2 the SRT spring rate changed between 2012-2013 and 2014-2017 trucks (see Jeep coilover options for a bigger adjustable drop instead). Check your VIN or door-jamb build tag against the seller's year range before you pay.

Front and rear drops are almost never equal

A spring set is tuned per corner, not as one number. The GR Supra's Pro-Kit drops 1.7 inches up front and 1.2 inches at the rear; the Grand Cherokee SRT8 does the opposite, dropping the rear more to hold the factory rake. On trucks like the S10 or a classic C10, front and rear use entirely different hardware: coils or drop spindles up front, a leaf-spring swap or shackle kit in back (see S10 lowering kits). Buy both ends from the same line so the stance matches.

What to check before you order

Confirm ride-height sensors: SRT, F Sport, and M-badge trims often carry self-leveling setups or adaptive dampers that read spring height, and a drop over an inch can throw a code if the sensor arm isn't re-indexed. Measure sway bar end links separately - a drop past about an inch usually needs shorter links or the bar binds. On unibody sedans where few dedicated lowering-spring lines exist, a coilover kit is often the better-documented option; weigh that against springs with our coilovers vs. lowering springs guide, and budget labor with our installation cost guide.

FAQ

Do lowering springs fit every generation of the same model?
No. Spring mounts, perch diameter, and ride-height sensors change between chassis codes (E46 vs. E90, WK vs. WK2, A80 vs. A90/A91), so a kit sold for one generation will not seat correctly in another even when the model name is identical.
Why do front and rear drop numbers differ on the same kit?
Front and rear springs carry different loads - engine weight up front, fuel tank and cargo out back - and are rated separately. A 1.7-inch front / 1.2-inch rear kit, like the GR Supra's Pro-Kit, is tuned to keep the factory rake, not to drop evenly.
Are lowering springs available for trucks like the S10 or C10?
Yes, but the hardware differs front to rear: coil springs or drop spindles up front, and a leaf-spring swap, shackle kit, or flip kit in back. See our S10 and C10 lowering-kit pages.
What if my car isn't listed here?
Coverage depends on what a manufacturer or major retailer publishes for that chassis. If your generation has no dedicated spring line, adjustable coilovers usually cover more years under one part number.
