Coilovers for the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G35 (Z33/V35)

A coilover kit for the 350Z (Z33) also fits the Infiniti G35 Coupe and Sedan (V35): all three share the same RWD FM platform and suspension pickup points. BC Racing, Megan Racing, Tein, and Godspeed sell true-rear kits for this chassis, roughly $850-$1,100 at the time of writing, adjustable from under an inch to several inches of drop.

G35 Sedans built as AWD use a different rear subframe and are not covered by these kits - confirm RWD before ordering. Kits labeled "true rear" bolt in as a single height-adjustable spring-and-shock unit matching the factory rear strut; kits without that label use a divorced, spring-over-shock rear that only adjusts at the spring perch.

Why 350Z and G35 coilovers are the same part

The Nissan 350Z (Z33, 2003-2009) and Infiniti G35 Coupe and Sedan (V35, 2003-2007) were built on Nissan's RWD FM platform, so the front struts and rear shock towers sit in the same place on all three body styles. That is why BC Racing, Megan Racing, and Godspeed sell one coilover kit with fitment notes for the 350Z and the G35 Coupe/Sedan together, rather than separate kits per body style.

This only applies to RWD trims. AWD G35 sedans route power to the front axle through a different front subframe and are excluded from these fitment charts - check the listing's drive-wheel note before buying.

What drop to expect

Drop ranges vary by kit and by body style. The Tein Flex Z, which lists separate drop figures per chassis, runs about 0.8-2.5 in. front and 0.2-2.6 in. rear on the 350Z coupe, 0.2-3.1 in. front and 0.4-2.8 in. rear on the G35 coupe, and up to 0.7-4.1 in. front and 1.3-3.6 in. rear on the heavier G35 sedan. Godspeed's True Rear MAXX and Megan Racing's Track Series and EZ II cover the same three body styles with their own adjustment ranges - see the fitment table below for part numbers and sources.

See the full table below for part numbers and sources on each kit.

Alignment, camber, and tire clearance

Any height change on this chassis moves camber and toe out of spec, so budget for a four-wheel alignment after installing coilovers. Several kits in this class, including Megan Racing's, ship with adjustable front camber plates specifically to bring negative camber back into range once the car is lowered past an inch or two.

Past roughly 2-2.5 in. of drop, 350Z and G35 owners commonly report front fender or inner-liner rubbing on stock-width tires at full steering lock; wider wheels or spacers make that clearance tighter, not looser. Set initial ride height with that in mind, then fine-tune with the damping and height adjusters once the car is on the ground.

Coupe, sedan, and convertible differences

Within the 350Z line, the convertible uses a slightly different rear shock length than the coupe to clear the extra chassis bracing added for the drop-top - Tein's fitment data separates the two for that reason. The G35 sedan's longer wheelbase and extra weight over the rear axle is also why its Flex Z drop range differs from the coupe's, even on an otherwise identical kit.

If you are shopping for the newer chassis instead, see coilovers for the 370Z/G37, which use different mounts and are not interchangeable with these Z33/V35 kits.

What a 1.5" drop looks like

Most daily-driven 350Z and G35 builds settle around 1-1.5 in. of drop front and rear. Fully adjustable kits like the Tein Flex Z can go well past that, but drops beyond roughly 2.5 in. commonly need camber correction and bring tire clearance into play.

FAQ

Do 350Z coilovers fit the Infiniti G35?

Yes, on RWD trims. The 350Z (Z33) and G35 Coupe/Sedan (V35) share the same FM platform, so kits from BC Racing, Megan Racing, Tein, and Godspeed cover all three body styles under one part number or close variants. AWD G35 sedans use a different front subframe and are not covered.

What does "true rear" mean on a coilover kit?

A true rear design integrates the spring and shock into a single height-adjustable unit at the rear, matching the factory 350Z/G35 strut layout. Kits without that label use a divorced, spring-over-shock rear that only adjusts ride height at the spring perch.

How much will the car drop?

It depends on the kit and the body style. On the Tein Flex Z, 350Z coupes run roughly 0.8-2.5 in. of front drop, G35 coupes 0.2-3.1 in., and the heavier G35 sedan up to 4.1 in. at full adjustment. See the fitment table above for other series.

Will I need an alignment after installing coilovers?

Yes. Lowering the car changes camber and toe, so a four-wheel alignment is part of the install cost on every kit in this table, not an optional extra.

Do I need camber plates on a lowered 350Z or G35?

Past an inch or two of drop, most owners add adjustable front camber plates to bring negative camber back into spec. Some coilover kits, including Megan Racing's, include them in the box.

Can I use a 350Z coilover's rear on a G35, or vice versa?

You generally do not need to mix parts. Because the 350Z and G35 share the same rear shock towers, kits sold for either car already include the correct rear unit for your body style - just match the kit listing to your exact chassis (coupe vs sedan) and confirm RWD before ordering.
